BioMarion Gerhardt has maintained a private law practice in Texas since early 2007, and has also served as Of Counsel for Zemp Law Group (formerly Global Immigration Solutions and Legal Services) since early 2013. She has also provided contract legal services to Neel, Hooper and Banes PC and Pye Legal Group, both in Houston. Marion currently serves as general counsel to various companies, including franchise companies and oil and gas industry service providers. She has extensive experience in many other industries, including the financial services, outsourcing, manufacturing, engineering, technology, data processing, and various services industries.
In-House Legal Experience
Prior to private practice, Marion served as Vice President and General Counsel of Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc., a global engineering and manufacturing company. During her seven-year tenure at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, a period of positive change and substantial growth for the company, Marion managed all legal matters, including corporate matters, employee relations, intellectual property, real estate transactions, commercial relationships (sales channels, outsourcing, strategic alliances and others), mergers and acquisitions, company licensing, aircraft ownership and operation, international matters, and dispute resolution matters. Marion also established and managed a law department to meet all legal needs of the company, including management of its patent portfolio and growth of its international operations. As counsel to the company Government Services Department, Marion carried a TS Security Clearance. Marion also previously served as Senior Counsel at Computer Sciences Corporation in Austin, Texas, a Fortune 500 company providing worldwide management and information technology consulting, systems integration and outsourcing services.
Marion began her legal career in the law department of First Kentucky National Corporation (later National City Corporation) and served that regional bank holding company in various legal officer positions for over twelve years, including as Vice President and Corporate Counsel of National Processing Company, its information technology and outsourcing subsidiary. During her career at National City Corporation, her practice included bank regulatory issues, political action committee matters, environmental issues, mortgage warehousing transactions, equipment leasing, commercial loan documentation, workouts and restructurings, real estate transactions, equity partnerships related to affordable housing and historical rehabilitation tax credits, and personal and corporate trust matters, as well as various matters involving the data processing subsidiary, including in-house coordination of its initial public offering.
Pro Bono Legal Work
Marion has provided pro bono legal assistance to many individuals for various immigration and international child custody matters, and assisted with preservation of intellectual property rights for a Northwest Native American tribe. Marion has also provided pro bono services to various non-profit organizations, including assistance on real estate transactions and employment law matters to the Palouse Discovery Science Center, a children’s museum in Pullman, Washington, and legal services on various immigration, real estate and litigation matters to several churches.
